Bettina Hachmann - Layer by Layer
Vernissage on 20 August 2021 from 7.30 pm at the Bentler Gallery Due to Corona...
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Sometimes one has the feeling that this year, the second half of which has now begun, is a particularly difficult one. The months-long Corona lockdown of the spring with its restrictions unfortunately also affects the present and thus also the future of the gallery. That the immediate future should shine brighter than the past is often hard to believe.
But the future doesn't just happen, at least not in its entirety. As individuals, we always have the opportunity to help shape it. At least, we determine our own view of it.
That is why we do not want to be discouraged for the future. According to the Corona Protection Ordinance of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the City of Bonn (as of today), we are allowed to entertain a very large number of people outdoors at a level 3 incidence (35 – 50), and twenty people are allowed to be in the well-lit gallery at the same time. Therefore, as we did successfully last year, there will again be a tent in front of the gallery opened on the left side. From there, up to twenty people can enter the gallery at the same time. We know that many of you are vaccinated by now, for those who are not vaccinated we ask for a negative coronary test. This way we can all have an exciting opening without worrying.
And that is, after all, one of the purposes of art. It should help to find a positive expectation of the future, despite all the negative omens, by offering and conveying a different view of and a new approach to the world.
This brings us right into the middle of our new exhibition, to which we invite you.
In her sparsely coloured and nevertheless so striking pictures, Bettina Hachmann tells us that it is worth taking new paths, that we must have the courage to adapt to new situations without knowing exactly where life will take us, and that it is important to keep questioning appearances and to look behind the façade.
If we can engage with this view of things, if we can take something of it into our lives, then we will help to shape the future where we are instead of accepting and enduring it.
Sharing and experiencing such thoughts and views with many other people during an opening has a special quality.
And that is why we are delighted to finally welcome you back to the gallery!
